Leighann Avery, LMHC - Owner & Counselor Uses Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) in session for trauma -Leighann specializes in treating clients suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, and coping skills. She loves working with clients and seeing the process as they improve their symptoms. Her approach allows children to "play" out their emotions and pain. Clients will dig their hands in sand, disguise themselves through puppets, play with dolls, draw, paint, read books, and so much more as they process through their feelings, improve their coping skills, and increase their pro-social behavior. In using CBT, she gets excited when clients are able to dispute their negative thoughts to increase their feelings of happiness. In utilizing ART, I will help clients process their negative emotions related to their trauma using eye movements to provide relief from these symptoms. She also loves when my young client come back week after week talking about using their impulse control strategies in class and at home. Her passion for helping others is what drives her daily. Ryann Farley, Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern My journey as an aspiring clinician came from my desire to support individuals in learning to help themselves and to live a more fulfilled life. Using the proper tools and skills developed within our sessions, one will learn to better cope with daily life and achieve their specific goals. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults to manage challenges and navigate through individual concerns together. I graduated from Goldey Beacom College with a B.A. in Psychology in 2017 and a B.A. in Criminal Justice is 2018 and earned an M.S. in Counseling & Psychology from Troy University in July 2021, where I will then pursue licensure. Through interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy, I work mostly with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, and ADHD. While working with children, I enjoy creating a space where they can freely express themselves through games, art, sand, or puppets. With teens and young adults, it’s especially important to help them feel comfortable and safe talking through their daily struggles with me while also allowing us to set attainable goals and improve everyday life. If you feel you or a loved one may benefit from my approaches, you may call or email to set up your first appointment to determine if we may be a good fit for each other. With the help from Ryann, another therapist in our office, we work together with siblings to resolve conflict and work to repair relationships by working independently until they are ready and then we co- facilitate sibling sessions where they can talk in a safe place to get to root cause of the conflict.
